Bio
What's madness but nobility of soul
At odds with circumstance? The day's on fire!
I know the purity of pure despair,
My shadow pinned against a sweating wall,
That place among the rocks--is it a cave,
Or winding path? The edge is what I have.
-from "In a Dark Time" by Theodore Roethke

Pale. Skinny. Unattractive. That's me-- selfish, willful Antigone.

Or rather, that was me. Because I've died now.

Oh, it wasn't tragic. Creon will make it out to be, with mourners in the street to bewail the young life wasted-- but it isn't tragic. I did it because I wanted to. I can't remember exactly how ... but I know it was dark, and I was hungry, and there wasn't any air to breathe. Maybe I suffocated, or simply collapsed for want of food and never woke up. I know that I didn't see Haemon die. They must not have given me a proper burial, because I'm not at rest, I'm here. I'm a wandering ghost, just like my brother.

No one ever said there'd be peace for me afterwards. I still have my part to act out.

Note on Canon: In Antigone's canon, she hanged herself in the cave that she was shut up in. However, as it is a play and can therefore be cut, I am cutting from my intepretation of Antigone the Messenger's monologue, our only indication that she actually did hang herself. (With a girdle! From ... somewhere in the cave. Um, yeah.)

And now, because I want to give you all a fair shot at avoiding OMGdoom if you'd like to, I present:

Antigone's List of Breaky Subjects:
brothers
uncles
fathers
sist-- okay, FAMILY
infants/young children
blood
caves
burial
death
origami (yes, this is canon)
stories
sex
growing up
pretty people (especially if they are blonde)
being manhandled
remembering
boyfriends
traitors

[OOC: Antigone comes from Jean Anouilh's adaptation of her play, which is set (vaguely) in France around the time of WWII. She is not my property, and is being used solely for fun (and for no profit whatsoever) at the RP community [info]milliways_bar. Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls, her PB, likewise is not my property.]
